Have some digital photo's in a couple of different folders problem being am using Photoshop 7 but it is not recognising the files. I then go into widows explorer can open then there but have all photo's in preview they show as a file open there is the photo. When i check there their properties they show as files not jpegs. My question is how can i convert these files from a file back into a jpeg so i can open them in photoshop. Otherwise I lose these photo's and that i do not want to do. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jason

The name of the file must end with .jpg for the programs to reconize it as jpeg.
Hope it helps

Question, what is their suffix? Use the program fom which you usually open those files, and search for a "Save As" option. Then save as jpeg (name.jpg). Be careful not to modify the original file, but a copy as this process will certainly loose the Exif data should you need it.
It is strange though, Photoshop works with almost any graphic format I know.

check to see what format the camera is set to shoot in - could be in RAW format - which i don't beleive photoshop will open...

if thats the case you'll need a program that can open, and edit RAW files, which you can then save as JPEG.

also with windows explorer - open the folder that contains the images, under the view menu - choose details that should list the file names, and extensions ( type of file ).

Jason,
First, I assume you are using Windows XP? If so, you first have to make sure that Windows is set to display the "extension", that is, the part of the file name after the ".". By default, XP does not show the extension for file types it recognizes. To set this option, open a folder, from the munu choose Tools/Folder Options, then UNCHECK the box that sez "hide extensions for know files and folders". Now click the "apply to all folders" button.
Second, look at the file extension for the troublesome files. If they were shot with the 995, we can rule out RAW files, since the 995 does not support that. They should be either .JPG or .TIF, and either of these should be recognized by PS. Since they are not recognized by PS, they prolly are not either, or they may have NO extension. If they have no extension, rename ONE from, for example, "name" to "name.jpg" and see if this solves the issue.
If it does, rename the rest, and all is well. If not, you'll need to tell us what the extension of the files is.
