| The first thing that springs to mind is overheating batteries. Just guessing. |

The recall is to replace the submirror assembly thats suppose to be causing the alservo focusing issues. At least thats the word on the street.

It is actually exactly what Canon write in their letter to the dealers....
Rob Galbraith: Letter to Canon dealers
Strange that if it affects only "some" cameras, that they stop all shipments and get all the cameras back from the dealers.....

| Damn that sucks. I hope they get it figured out soon. I wonder if any of the 1D Mark III owners here have had any issues. |

I believe my camera is definitely affected by this issue. I read this announcement from Canon on Wednesday night, I then rang Canon Australia first thing Thursday morning and after speaking with 2 people, one admitted they were just waiting to hear from Canon Japan before doing something and the other (service deparment) said it was probably something else wrong with the camera and I should just bring it in for a service check.
My camera was one of the very first to arrive in Australia. When in Al servo I can be tracking something and I get 1-2 photos in the series that are out of focus. I haven't gone into whether it is weather affected although Canon's explanation of this does make sense. |

Mine has been fine. However, those who reported it are more likely to be shooting with a 300mm lens (or larger) at f/2.8. And my fastest/longest lens is the 70-200 2.8L. I do have the 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L but that doesn't seem to fit the criteria. SO... it's possible mine has the problem, but I've just never had the right lenses to experience it.
My own experience is ... DANG ... it hits the focus "dead on" so often as to be AMAZING. I love the Mark III.
