Just figures 'cause the wife and kid are on their way home, I have to finish getting dinner together, the kid'll swipe the 'Net, so it'll be HOURS 'til I can get back and get a score fix. Bah!

you know the very first 10 votes we get are mostly from people who have participated in the challenge. If they are less that means people were not honest in their voting and there are trolls among us.

At this rate, I'm not even going to get a PB out of it.

How the heck can I have an entry that does so well that I shouldn't bitch, yet get so disappointed by it!

This is a whole new level of frustration for me! LOL!!!

Oh well, screw it, I guess I'll just have to be pleased with a darn fine entry instead of a great one.

I should turn off the &%$#@#@$&% update button! LOL!!!

G'night all......I've had enough for one day.

don't say screw. I am trying to analysis flow around a screw and 2 weeks no luck. The screw is just screwing everything.

You're an engineer, aren't you?

Hey, my point was that I'm just feeling bi-polar with the way that the scores went.

Disgusted: 'Cause my first real shot at a 7+ appeared to go down the tubes.

Happy: 'Cause it's still a personal best.

Therein being the DPC bi-polar conundrum.....disgusted and happy at the same time!

Tried something different this time, knowing that I might be punished. And punished I am, but that's okay. Pretty low score, though creeping up slowly. One comment stating exactly the reason why I thought it might be punished, the other one positive, liking the picture for the same reason I like it.

Before, I often forced myself to think I was not bothered by a low score. No forcing this time, I am realy okay with this.

OK, not moaning, but what I still struggle to understand is why the first 20 or so voters on any challenge, always seem to really like the shots and dish out high scores, quite often we see a multitude of 7+ scores being posted in these threads, but after that initial spurt (good word spurt, should use it more often) then 4s,5s & 6s (sometimes) come in.. what is it that causes people to dish out higher than average scores in that first few hours after rollover. Have people gone mad pondering this phenomenen?

Only once have I started much lower than the finishing score and that was my Fill The Frame entry recently, which at 20 or so votes was sitting at around 5.8, and I wrote the shot off.. however over the week it gradually climbed and finished at 6.8 and won the blue ribbon... but that really does go against the general rule..

I tend to get low scores in the first twenty or so, which often climb. I should be so lucky. My average is below five, so there is also a general tendency for my scores to be below those that are complained about in threads like this.

So maybe the ones who complain about getting less than six get high scores to start and those who are thankful for more than five start low. Could it be possible that the twenty or so early voters (I'm convinced it's a clique and they all communicate outside these fora) actually use the range of scores more fully, as is (or was) recommended in the guidelines?

I think the trolls were fed up with being called trolls so now they've become anti-trolls.

I personally would rather get the low votes early on then think I've got a winner, only to see it drop all week.

Well, I took another chance and went with a very simplistic shot that I ended up liking very much. I have received one comment who gave it a 10 (thank you very much) who liked the shot for the same reason I did. The shot keeps bouncing between 5.5 and 5.9.

Worse then my last picture, even though i like this one better. After the contest is over, i am posting the pic here and asking people on how i could've improved it. I'd be happy if this stays above a 5.1 at the rate this is going. I'd love to see more comments though.
