What is the difference between a Flash Tube and Modeling Lamp. In this kit.

Kit

And should you have both bulbs in at the sametime? I'm so confused!! Any help please!

Thanks
Phillip

Modeling light is just a low power tungsten bulb. It is optional. With it turned on you can see where the light and shadows are falling without having to fire the flash. Even better is when the modeling light has power output proportional to the flash output (i.e. the more you turn up the power on the flash, the brighter the modeling light gets) so that you can see the "relationship" between lights.

However, after awhile you get used to what you're shooting and don't hardly need the modeling lights...

No problem. For what it's worth, I thought the "kit" looked pretty tempting... 900ws on the strobes, proportional lighting on the modeling lamps, stepless control on the power output. And you get two of them with stands, umbrellas and case, for less than $900. Seems like a pretty good price to me.

Agreed! They have a user replaceable flash tube and modeling bulb. I say go for it! :-D

I agree.

And I totally agree but I had to go with this one b/c of budget. I bought the Canon 5D earlier this week :):).
