Question - Are all adjustment layers legal under the basic rules as long as they're applied in normal mode? I was playing around some and liked the result using an adjustment layer of type 'Channel Mixer'. Is this "ok" for basic? Thanks.
You may: use only Adjustment Layers (or their equivalent). An Adjustment Layer is a special type of layer containing no image data that lets you experiment with color and tonal adjustments without permanently modifying the pixels. Adjustment Layers must be applied in Normal mode.

To me the language means Normal only. So I think your channel Mixer mode will be illegal. We'll see what SC says, but I don't think I'm wrong.
EDIT... Doh, I am wrong... I was thinking it was an adjustment layer mode such as multiply, as opposed to normal. I guess the equivalent is Hue-Saturation, but of course I'm probably wrong about that too. Luckily, I don't think anybody ever listens to me because I am so often wrong, and/or just plain annoying. Move along, nothing to see in my post. :-D

channel mixer adjustment layers are allowed in basic if applied to the entire image. at least that's my understanding. |

Channel Mixer is the layer type, not the mode. It's used quite often for BW conversion.
As far as I know it's legal. |

I believe the channel mixer is not a blending mode, but rather an adjustment layer that can be applied in any blending mode (including normal). Since the channel mixer itself is legal, applying it as an adjustment layer would be legal, so long as it is applied in normal mode.

Great! Thanks for the feedback everyone.
In case anyone has a question, here's what it looks like.
