Am I right when I say that the only print size for sale for the 1.33:1 ratio is 18x25 inches?
Aren't most of us shooting with the aspect ratio?
What should I do? |

Hey Labuda,
I dont think that's true. Aside from that, you can resize to fit aspect ratios offered for prints. Let me see if I can find the link & I'll hit you back with it.
Okay,
these are some standards 3.5"x5"
4"x6"
5"x7"
8"x10"
9"x12"
10"x13"
11"x14"
plus I think you get 16x20 & 20x30. There are probably some more.
When you try to uplaod a shot that does not fit the aspect ratio, you get a list of the acceptable ratios available. Then, depending upon your resolution, you are given options for sizes based upon the quality of the shot.
Someone else here has to no more than I do. I hope they hit you up with a post.

Thanks Rooster! You're the greatest!
I was looking at this site:

Maybe I'm being mislead.

the pixel size - i think is more important, and will only match if it fits an accepted ratio...
that and the quality at a certain pixel size.
the tutorials offer some tips.

Say I upload 5x7 prints and 4x6 print, which have a different aspect ratio. Do I have to have upload a low sized picture [150K] representative of each aspect ratio to be able to sell both? Or will buyers assume the 5x7 will be cropped differently than the 4x6 and leave it up to the photographer to judge?

In order to selct shots for print you have to upload a small size version of it in your portfolio. Then you can select it from your portfolio & below the pic & description stuff there will be a upload printable size thingy. You can upload larger versions of the shot. Up to 10mb if I'm not mistaken. When you try to upload a printable version the site will let you know from there if it works or not. If it doesn't you can go to a page (link provided) that let's u know what you can do from there. Also has links to tutorials & other things that can help you along. Basically it's trial & error. Once you get it, it'll be easier. Took me a WHILE ya know! Good Luck!

For now you need a separate, viewable image in your portfolio for each aspect ratio. However, those don't need to be 150k, they just shouldn't be over that. The customer will see another preview generated from the printable file itself, so your portfolio image can be both a bit smaller and lower quality and an entry might be -- it just needs to be good enough to get the person to check out the print.
The hi-res print images DO NOT count towards any storage space allocation, only the non-entry images up upload to your portfolio. |
