PRE-ORDERED! Let the countdown begin!!
I am just still surprised that iChat does not integrate any other IM, etc other than AIM....sad.
Also pretty cool with the Widgets from webpages in Safari
"Now you can turn any web page into a Dashboard widget. Click the Web Clip button next to the address field in Safari and select exactly what you want your new widget to display. Then click Add, and Safari sends your Web Clip widget to Dashboard, where you can view it alongside your other widgets. You can even customize its border using built-in styles on the back of the widget. Your Web Clip widget is âliveâ and will update as frequently as the page from which it came."
Sweet for this site!!
Not to mention the Time Machine...was just looking into a NEW backup solution..forget it now.
AND...Improved Tethered Camera Support
Control your camera directly from Image Capture, allowing you to take pictures and download them in a single, convenient step. More camera models from Canon and Nikon are now supported.

"Instant Screen Sharing from the Finder
Start an interactive screen sharing session with other Macs on your network. Just select the Mac from your sidebar and (if authorized) you can see and control the Mac as if you were right in front of it. Change a system preference, publish an iPhoto library, or add a new playlist to iTunes."
"Time machine" and
Back to my Mac

I have version 10.3.9 - I got my G4 just after tiger (maybe) came out. Whichever came out in either December or November of '03. That's what I have.
Do I really need to update? I haven't bought any of the updates since I got the G4. Maybe now's the time. But I went over the linked page, and it didn't seem there was anything new I needed. |

If you upgrade you can get widgets and some other fun little features. The new search feature is really useful and pretty fast if you're like me and don't organize your files very well :-) The big reason for me to upgrade from 10.3.9 is that I can no longer order photo albums through iPhoto, and my iPhoto doesn't read RAW. But I'm just going to upgrade to Tiger (10.4).
And, just so you're aware---upgrades from 10.4 up are all on DVD. Which isn't a problem if you got the Combo Drive, but all I have is CD....so I've gotta get an external DVD drive or something in order to upgrade my OS. |

brownt, at the beginning of this semester I set up 41 of the aluminum iMacs--plus a Mac Pro for myself! ;-)
Question: How are you imaging yours? I set one up and used Carbon Copy Cloner 3 to copy it to the rest. I have OS-X Server but didn't get everything delivered in time to have a clean environment to learn it in. Leopard Server is coming (paid for) so I'll be in better shape for Spring's imaging.
BTW, I learned not to use the aluminum iMac to image white iMacs! Even though they're both Intel-based, there was some weirdness involving video drivers (PowerPoint crashing when showing slide shows and DVD Player not being able to launch on the white iMacs). Archive and install is your friend at that point!
