Very nice work! It's hard to get good people shots, especially indoors and in action. You did a great job. |

Not sure if I can just drop in here... or if this even fits... but here's a little series I completed this weekend looking at the destruction of buildings in Korea. This was just one site that I looked at, I hope to do more. Let me know what you think.
1 - The Wall
2 - The Door
3 - Leftover
4 - SK
5 - Always
Again, I hope I'm not intruding here. |

Here is my entry. Not as large as I was hoping for, but it will do for now, this is something I will be continuing to do for the next year or so.

Cyler, the story is turning out amazingly good so far! The pictures are really striking and after looking into their eyes you NEED to know their story. You've done a really great job and I envy the way that you've been able to come up with an idea in your head and make it come alive. Great work.
I've been in a LOT of sociology classes and there is a lot of talk about racism. There can be some really interesting and heart wrenching discussions. Somehow though... it always turns out... that I, myself, feel a little bit offended after hearing about all the racism these people are experiencing. I feel targeted as a proponent of the racism just because I'm white. So... for me... sometimes I feel that talking about these issues doesn't really do a ton of good... but only gives us kind of a false reassurance, like, "well... at least we're not ignoring it". Which... i guess... is a start. But, it seems to me like we need to reach the next step. And, I think that your approach to this photo essay is a step in the right direction. The fact that you care enough to let these people speak about truth puts you miles ahead of others. But, I still think there needs to be more. I think that you need to continue this project for more than "the next year". Maybe for a lifetime. Because it's not really something that should have a beginning or an end. |
