I am looking at a Nikkor 35mm 2.8 Perspective Control (shift) lens on eBay, and wondering if it can be modified to fit the S3 Pro Fuji that I use. The modification involves cutting a notch out of the aperture ring at the back, of most of the pre Ai lenses, so that it will not interfere with a small lever next to the mount on the camera body. Without the mod, it will put pressure on, or bend the lever.
The PC nikkor has the aperture ring at the front, and I don't think that the mount on the lens has the AI feature, as there would be no way to connect the aperture ring thru the movement in the lens.
The camera's manual says that the lens cannot be used, however, I feel that it is just a matter of trimming the mount a bit so that the lever will have clearance.
The S3 has no metering with the older Ai lenses anyway, so that is not an issue. I will be happy if I can get the lens to mount and to work in all manual and stop down focusing mode.
It is an awesome lens for archetecture, and I would like to make it work if possible.
The question then is; Does anyone have experience with this combination on a D70 or similar Nikon or Fuji, and will it work?
