| I'm considering selling my 5D to purchase the 40D. Besides losing the full frame feature what would be the other drawbacks? The new 40D looks like an awesome camera. Thanks for your input. |

| I'd love the 5D with the additional features of the 40D. That would be worth waiting for! |

WAIT!!!!
The 40D is great, I'd even talked hubby into getting it for me this week and then the car registration and insurance arrived. So we made a deal: Wait for the new 5D, see what the upgrades are and then decide between them. I think the new 5D will be worth the extra $$$ and the wait, plus it makes for extra time to save those $$$ |

They would have to do alot to the 5D to get me to spend another $3000+.
40D has some nice features but implementing them on the 5D as an upgrade hardly justifies spending another $3000+

As a 5D owner, I can't even imagine moving to the 40D. Yes, there are a few nice features, and yes, the image quality of the 40D is very good indeed. But It would still be a step backward, IMO. All my lenses would appear narrower, and no way would I invest in EF-S lenses to gain additional coverage on an APS-C camera.
As for me, I probably will not upgrade if a 5DMkII is released in Spring. Perhaps next cycle. Right now, 25 months into 5D ownership, I still love the camera. |

| Same here. Next upgrade will be the rumored medium format competing sensors they come out with in 2010. If they do. |

For what it's worth... I have the 5D, the 1D Mark III and two 20Ds. Guess which one is used to do most of my portraiture work? The 5D!
So even while having a "pro camera", the 1D Mark III, in hand. I still choose the 5D when it comes to doing portraiture. On the other hand, I'll take the Mark III or any of my 20Ds over my 5D any day when it comes to sports.
So it all depends on what you're doing with the camera!

| I appreciate all of the advice. I too, really like my 5D so at this point I think I'll keep it and see what comes out in the spring. |
