I was playing around with one of my images. What do you think?

I'm afraid I don't like it much. I dig the sky, which has gained a very dramatic feel, but I think a lot of the rest of the image has been lost. There isn't much detail left and it just looks messy. In the original, I can see reflections

It would be pretty cool if you could switch the sky, but then you would get complications from the reflections in the marshy bits in the foreground.

Seems to me that perhaps you turned to negative, tweaked the Hue/sat a bit and pushed the contrast a tad?

actually, I made three layers with the same image, had the original on the bottom, a b/w towards infrared in the middle (did a layer filter...not sure which, inverted the third (on top) and played with that in terns of the layer filter as well.

Liked the sky I got, so removed it and put it on top, then readjusted the layer filter on the second to top most layer (now 4 layers)

burned in the grass to bring out more contrast...it was too pale and mostly white in comparison to the sky.

Did Highlights/Shadows to bring out more contrast

Then Curves to adjust for shadows/Highlights and Midtones.

I like the dichotomy a lot, even if no one else does....but thank you for your comments. I appreciate it.

Why do you convert a perfectly alright photo to negative.
How does it look now.
(sorry for playing with it).

I love the original version!! It has a lot of depth and the sky is just fantastic!

Experimenting is good- the best way to learn how to do new things. I was playing around with one of my infrared images this week and went from this (originally shot in BW and then given a tint via Selective Color adjustments on the "Neutrals"):

To this:

and it is all legal in Basic Editing. After the tint, I played around with hue/ sat. In this case, moved saturation (master) to 100% and then played with the hue until I found a color I liked. A bit of contrast adjustment with Levels.

Keep twisting those knobs to see what comes out!
Find an effect you like and then try to see how few steps you can use to recreate it.
