So their privacy statement is accurate. That site says (emphasis mine):
6. Google's toolbar is spyware:
With the advanced features enabled...
I disable the PageRank features upon installation and still get all the other benefits of the toolbar. |

I'm sure most people don't disable the feature. And that's fine with me, because it helps move the "more popular" sites for my searches closer to the top of the list so I have to hunt less. =] Given that the data is anonymous (all they know is your "cookie ID"), it isn't nearly as nefarious as something like Gator (which is now called Claria because too many people heard/read "Gator is spyware") which pop-ups targeted ads based on your web-browsing habits.

Try this its when all els fails! Really good popupblocker and its free.
EMS popup blocker
I also found that other tool bars besides your regular browser will enhance the chance of getting the popups more so specially google and yahoo thats their way of advertising. I do however like techtv.com their bar and it has a blocker and the google search bar in it, hardly ever have any popups, when not running the ems surfer. Give it try it should help.

Using the Google toolbar does not increase the amount of pop-ups you receive or increase the amount of advertising. The Google Toolbar actually includes a very functional pop-up blocker. |

Yahoo is also good if you have an account with them, same thing with Google. Check your ISP if they have free pop-up blocker (I have Cox Communications - and they have Check-it 86 - a very good pop-up blocker). The free-trial versions of Ad-aware & Spybot does not delete everything especially Gator. I have a subscription service activated of webroot spy sweeper that I can share. PM me if u want. IMO, this is the best spyware. |
