I own a canon a40 with in built flash, i bought digital peanut slave in order use with normal studio strobes. Sometime this question bothers me what shutter sync speed should i choose, i mean this camera was not meant for external flash.
I am currently shooting at 1/13 and compared results with 1/60 and 125, all appear same, i guess when i use flash camera chooses shutter speed itself, is that so?

If you are using it in 'manual' mode then you select the shutter speed and a choice of two aperature settings based on that shutter speed. I have never used an external flash with that camera so I've no idea about what to set it on. If you are using 'manual' and setting your shutter you can take not of that and then read the data from the actual picture to see what the actual shutter speed is as a way of determining if the shutter speed is changing to something other than what you are selecting, but it shouldnt be.
