I am looking for advice or suggestions please. My daughters gymnastics academy is having a Santa Clause breakfast for the little kids. They are having breakfast, crafts and Santa. The cost to the parents will be $25, and this includes a 4x6 photo with Santa. I have been asked If I would like to do the shoot, and what would I charge. I can also set up my computer and printer and sell additonal prints If I would like.
This will be limited to 100 kids and four hours. Pricing suggestions please? What would you charge for the shoot? By the hour or by the child? Thanks in advance.

wow that's a tough one. I would think you should try and determine how much you would make off of the additional prints then charge the academy a small charge so that you can keep the prints cost down for the parents...did I just make any sense what so ever? lol. Maybe you could even tell the academy that you want a set price but if you make a certain amount off of the printing you will drop their cost. Ideas from a novice train of thought.

good luck.

I was thinking along the lines of $10 for one sheet (2-5x7's)(1-5x7 & 2-3x5's). I am also waffeling between $3.00 per child (thats $300) or a flat rate? not sure which way to go.

a flat $150 gets them the 4x6, they can chose to buy additional prints at your regular prices ;-)

I do a photo shoot for our local dance school each year. They have about 75 students and I do individual a shot and a group shot for each dance. Each student does between 1 and three dances. Plus I then get students who want photos with their friends. This adds up to heaps of photos. It usually takes me three to four hours of shooting on a Friday night. I then make the photos available for viewing on Monday.
The kids bring their parents in and choose what they want over the next couple of weeks. Prices go from $3.00 for a 6x4 to $10.00 for a 8x10. I sell heaps of photos and usually make about $1000.00 from the shoot. I also donate 10% back to the dance school. This guarantees me the shoot again next year as most photographers charge a sitting fee and I actually donate money back. This has worked well for me in the past 2 years and I am doing the same again this year.

Skip..Thanks for the input. Monique, this will be a set photo as it will be with Santa. I am printing onsite, but great idea to post online also for products I cant print on site. I also offered to donate 10% back to the gym (same reason as you). Do you think $10 for a sheet...whatever configuration in 8x10 size is reasonable? Any other thoughts out there?
