I wonder how long before they stick an IPOD on her and we all find out this was just a giant viral marketing stunt.

cw, cw, cw. throughout the hubbub, nothing else. what illusion?

I'm a lefty for writing, mouse use, and holding a baseball bat. Everything else I use my right hand, like golf and using scissors. At first the girl was spinning counter clockwise, but then she switched and then switched back to ccw and so on. Interesting.

Nevermind. I think i am losing my mind.

Hmm, yes, I agree with the CCW shadow argument. If I look at the shadow too much, I can't make it go clockwise. Her foot goes to the left, and on turning around, the shadow drops out of the picture very quickly, like her foot is coming toward the camera. If she was turning clockwise, you would expect the shadow to linger higher for longer as her foot moved further away, and the shadow/reflection moves backward in 3d and upward in the image.

Without the shadow, I can make her go either way, with clockwise being the dominant direction, but I do feel that the shadow is strongly biased toward CCW. It would probably be better without the shadow/reflection.

I cannot get her to switch. My wife can make her spin either way. She only goes clockwise for me.

You Are 15% Left Brained, 85% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

Saw her spinning both ways but clockwise more often.

You Are 60% Left Brained, 40% Right Brained

cw and nothing else..then I got my kids involved, my 5yr old can spin it however she likes, my 8yr old did too, back and forth, and so determined I squinted and yes I can now move it either direction at will...

I'm just happy it adds up to 100!

I absolutely cannot make her spin any other way. I am going to post this on a "math forum" anybody know of a good one...lol

This is very funny. I took a similar test like this many years ago (acutally, it was more comprehensive) with the same 50/50 result, but I can only see the figure turning CCW (can't get her to switch at all).

Yup that sounds about right!

If she does not spin at all, then your computer is broken. No brainer. : )

I tried doing math while watching her. Didn't help. Still turned clockwise.

35% Left 65 Right. Wow, I'm migrating to the left, Thay's scary, usually I am 90% right brained. The girl was swing clockwise for sure. :)

Here is my tip for learning to switch her spin. I actually don't really think the test has much to do with right brain and left brain, but is an interesting illusion.

Watch her spin for a while. Then, say out loud "front" or "back" depending on whether her foot is spinning in front of her or behind her. Now, at the moment her foot blends with her other leg by crossing over it repeat the last word. So instead of saying "front, back, front, back" say "front, back, front, front".

This helped me greatly at first and now I'm at the point where I can easily make her do figure eights with half her spin clockwise and half her spin counterclockwise. I think the verbal reinforcement helps trick your brain into reversing her movement.

I keep trying this, but nothing...

So far on the Math forum I posted this, most of them see it going clockwise as well. I am not sure how much right/left brained this is.

I keep waiting for Art to re-do this as a fat dude.

The girl will turn either way when I focus on it.

I've done the right/left brain test before and I have 51%left, 49%right.

You Are 30% Left Brained, 70% Right Brained

But again, I think I would choose different answers for some of the questions in that test at a different moment.

As for the girl... I now see it randomly spinning every time I open this thread !

"You Are 70% Left Brained, 30% Right Brained."

To get her to switch easiest, I scroll the top half of her body off the page and look only at her feet. It keeps flipping back and forth. Then, like Jason said, force yourself to imagine when it's in front, and when it's behind. Once you've got her foot in front on the correct cycle, slowly scroll her whole body back into view.

One might say that the top half of her body is "distracting" (not in that it's cold, Jason! Ok, maybe that too...) but in that it solidifies the illusion. By working on the feet only, it should be easier to force it to do what you imagine.

When I looked at the first one she was going counter-clockwise and there was no way I could make her go clockwise. I thought everyone who was seeing her go clockwise was crazy or lying to make us think they were more creative! LOL Then I looked at the 2 side by side and she switched and started going clockwise. Now I can't get her to go counter clockwise. Weird!

A friend of mine opened this frame by frame to see what was up with it because he thought it was a fake. It was real.

Lefthanded person use the the right side of the brain and the righthanded person use the left side of the brain. Lefthanded person being in the right mind.
