Anybody ever been to Joshua Tree? I'm going n a mens retreat from chruch and their going to Palm Desert (stones throw from JT) So, during our free time I'd like to take my Jeep and camera and go shooting. Any ideas? I've never been so I'd like some input. Thanx

Been a really long time since I was out there (stationed on 29 Palms for several years)...but some of the folks of the SD dSLR photo group go out there all the time.
I haven't gone on any of their camping trips yet but you could ask over there //www.sandiegodslr.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 and they would be able to tell you every rock there is to shoot out at Joshua Tree. |

Been a long time since I been there also, but there's an area full of HUGE rocks piled up willy-nilly, they are great to shoot. Absolutely monstrous boulders. People use 'em to practice rock climbing on. Nice thing about them is no matter what time of day it is you can find an angle that the light is interesting. I spent a lot of time in the 70's shooting those boulders with the 4x5...

Was there around July 4th weekend. One word to describe it.
AWESOME!! There are so many possibilties to shooting in this park with the rock formations and Joshua trees.
If you have the time, you might want to take a peak at my gallery here as I have a few of my better Joshua Tree Park shots in it.
Enjoy..it's an amazing place!
