HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP!!!!! This was a CRAZY game! I missed most of it since I was stuck in class, but kept sending requesting score updates from Google via text messaging. I actually got home in time to watch the 13th inning, and HOLY MOTHERLOVIN' CRAP!

P.S. Dear Universe: I want playoff tickets for my birthday.

Whooooot!

I could have lost about 3 bazillion dollars because all year I told people there was no way they would ever make the playoffs. They proved me wrong. It only took them 163 games to do it.

He did miss touching home, but congratulations to the Rockies. I think they will match up against Philly better than my Padres will anyways. Go represent the NL West! What a duel the game was. Twice in a week Trevor Hoffman- lifetime saves leader- came in with a lead to put the Padres into the playoffs and blew the save.

If ya watch the VERY EXTRA SPECIAL SLOWMO you will see that one of the ridges of his middle finger fingerprint on his left hand just barely touched the plate underneath the catchers foot when he stepped on his hand. Glad the Ump at least saw it. :)

LOL. Even if he didn't touch the plate they deserved the win. I don't know what is up with MLB umpires but they are a lazy bunch. They never get into the best possible position to see a play. And those two extra umps they use in the outfield about two feet away from the normal umps are a completely worthless out there. They should be way back so they can judge plays at the wall like the one earlier in the game that may or may not have hit the yellow stripe. Instead they got the same view as the rest of the umps.

Made up for the one that went out of the park but didn't count as a homer.

LOL - being from Illinois, I'll root for both teams until they have to play each other, and then the "Cardinal Rule" requires that I root for the Rockies.

The Cardinal Rule is the highest law for Cardinals fans: "Thou shalt root root root for the Cardinals, and anyone who plays the Cubs." Now, I don't hate the Cubs and generally wish them well unless they're playing my Cardinals. However, this is a tiebreaker situation. I mean really, how is an Illinoisan baseball fan living in Denver supposed to choose otherwise?

They lucked into it on a bad call, but no biggie -- it's only the stupid wild card. Go Phillies (I hate Wild Cards)

The bad call was a karmic correction to an earlier bad call. Holliday's winning run would never have needed to be scored if the umps had properly called Atkins' homerun earlier in the game, which would then have been won in the usual nine innings instead of thirteen.

Toooo bad the Phils are gonna swat em down. Both teams on hotright now, but the phils have the extra day of rest, plus they arent on a winning streak like the rockies are (winning streaks dont last forever!)

I wonder if that Cubs fan who ruined their last playoff hopes will be at the games this year? :P

It may snow in Denver Saturday, can the Phil handle cold weather?

:)

Philadelphia sucks. The town, the football team, the baseball team, it all sucks.

Philly cheesesteaks vs. Denver omelettes.
Discuss and vote.

No dude, that's like being asked to pick between the Cardinals and the Cubs and you choose the friggin' White Sox!

So what are the chances that the Cubs will play the Rockies??? Chris just left (out of town for work meeting), so my sports stats officianado is out of the picture for a couple days......

BTW, I plan to balance out your "Cardinal Rule." Chris and I have this deal: we root for our own teams (Cards for him, Cubs for me) until one is knocked out.....then marital law dictates that we MUST root for our spouses team ;-) Therefore, Chris will be rooting for the CUBBIES!!!! GO CUBS GO CUBS!!

Though I think I gotta feel a little Rockie love, cause I dig the "underdogs" and they're a smaller, less-known team. And I'm a sucker for the games that pull it out at the last second. THAT'S what sports is about!

Steve Bartmann?

Yeah, Cubs fans won't forget that name too easily ;-) Though part of me feels bad for that guy. But then the other part of me reminds the first part of how pissed off it is that my Cubs lost that game!
