I feel you pain as well...
There does seem to be quite a difference between the early votes and the most recent votes (high to low). It seems more pronounced in this one compared to recent challenges for me. |

I notice this on every round of voting. The earliest votes are usually generous, the voters on Day 2 are harsh. I also see lower votes from the night voters (cranky bastards, go get some coffee) as opposed to early-mid morning voters who are more gracious. It's probably just me, though. |

| My score has been pretty stable and hasn't really drifted much more than 0.1 points. I'm happy with that, finally I struck on an image that most everyone seems to be in agreement on (be it good or bad)! |

I've noticed this trend also. Personally I'd rather have the so-called "trolls" do their thing early and get it over with and watch the score rise all week. Nothing sucks more than a great start that slowly sinks throughout the week.
Just to keep on topic, I'm still headed towards a PB. |

My score is so embarassing, I have chosen not to post it! :(
But for my soapbox commentary: Every time I try something outside of my comfort zone, out of the box, a different technique or post processing, I get slammed in the voting. Guess I'll just stick to bees over flowers, waterfalls, and landscapes near water....sorry, just venting. I get really discouraged sometimes. |

I know the feeling. But I agree with  Rebecca that you should keep stretching no matter what everyone else thinks. Besides you don't want to be like everyone else. As long as you like the photo that is really all that matters. Try some side challenges, they always boost my self-esteem. Good luck. |

as i said a 6 looks mediocre here, and i am currently hanging to that mediocre score, although i must say for a pic that's outside my element i can't be complaining much. |

6.0 isn't, wasn't, and never will be mediocre. In the last 3 Free Studies (not counting this last expert Free Study), a 6.0000 qualified for 71st, 73rd, and 72nd percentile. So it seems that a 6.0000 indicates you beat 7 of 10 entrants.

First time for me entering a Free Study! I was always too intimidated and thought my shot would be lost among so many talented photographers, but I love my score and the comments that are coming along too. I think I have started a little momentum for myself :)
