From a mid afternoon senior portrait shoot. 4 seniors, 16 changes of clothes, 600 pictures later. :) Here are a couple from different areas, each with unique lighting situations. I'm going to post 3 because they are all from diffent spots. Comments are appreciated but don't fell pressure to comment.

[thumb]600667[/thumb] afternoon sunlight from back side, large reflecter near side for fill, other fill from rocks and grasses in the area to camera right.

[thumb]600668[/thumb] Shady side of old ruined stone building, lots of light bouncing around from rocks and trees camera left. 2.2 aperature for shallow DOF. 50/1.8 lens.

[thumb]600669[/thumb] Shady side of ruined brick building Again, more light bouncing of a hill directly behind me. Tried to do something a little different for a group portrait but not sure if successful.

I haven't commented because I don't have a Flickr account.

But I absolutely agree. Your subjects all look so natural, comfortable and quite in harmony with their surroundings. I think in effect the viewer identifies with them and is himself set at ease.

That's quite a knack!

Better yet, to illustrate the point, I'll just let your photos speak for themselves!

Thanks for sharing, Gordon!

Day 15 - Just outside Houston Airport

Incoming storm into Houston created this shot. Not the most well composed shot, but I liked the contrast between light and dark

Day 16 - Chambers

Check out this AMAZING reflection!

I was driving around the city, trying to find and entry for Point Of View and WHAM - at a major intersection, stuck in traffic I look up to my right and there it was - BEAUTIFUL!

I wish you could see the size of this - it was enormous - the 'Chambers' sign you see is on the building on the opposite corner - I love how it works though - GRIN!

VERY pleased with this image - virtually no post processing needed - mother nature using her 'light' to make funky images!

Focal length - 100 (LOVE my Canon 100mm 2.8!)

Day 17 - Spring 4pm

There are no filter, actions, grains or other additives on this image - GRIN (although I did later realise that I forgot to change my ISO which may have contributed to the 'grunge' vibe!)

This is simply the front weatherboards of my home at 4pm today.

The sun was commencing it's descent - I have a HUGE Liquid
Amber tree in my front yard (which I ADORE) - that was casting shadows showing off her new leaves for Spring.

ISO 400 (oops I did it again - GRIN - but look at the results - I say a mistake well done!)
Focal Length 100

My condolences, CNovack, on the condition of your tooth. I hope you have an early appointment to get it fixed. No fun.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Worse yet, those root canals are expensive. Thought a photo from the most recent backlighting challenge would be relevant here, especially since it involves good quality light:

Hope you get better soon!

Thank you both. I did end up having a root canal to remove all 4 roots in the one back tooth. We are still watching one other tooth but I am starting to feel better now...knock on wood.

here's a B&W conversion of my hand from earlier post

Bassbone suggested this (matched up via the mentor thread) I searched for Leroy's B&W conversion tutorial and tried it.

I've been watching a lot of baseball because the home team is doing well, and as a result both my productivity and the quality of my images has gone down this week. So anyway, here are two stadium shots (alas, not from during the games) in honor of the occasion.

#13 -- light reflected off the infield tarp

#14 -- light in and at the end of the tunnel
