Anyone near Luray, VA? If so, can you let me know how the leaves are looking? I'm thinking of camping in Shenandoah this weekend, but would like to go when the leaves are at their peak.
Thanks

The leaves have not really hit high color yet in that area. (Just starting to turn) You can monitor progress on the following site: Foliage Network

You might ask the local Nature Photographers Network forum. I know the Rocky Mountain Region's board has a dedicated fall color sticky thread, maybe they'll be helpful on the Mid-Atlantic board, too.

i'm guessing the foliage isn't gonna be great this year due the lack of rain the latter part of the summer. at least here in northern vermont. a pretty hot spot for foliage viewing. even here they have started to fall. but there seems to be quite a lot of more rusty color than the normal mix of yellow orange and red.

Just drove through that area Sunday and the stressed trees have dropped their leaves while the ones still coping are green. Too soon for the show (and I agree it may not be great this year due to the drought). |
