I think it would be nice to have a âreplyâ or âquoteâ button associated with each comment received from a voter. The button would allow you to post a reply to the comment. Isnât there a thread maintained somewhere for each challenge entry? I know that you can see all of the comments that an entry received, both before and after the voting. The button Iâm suggesting would add your âcomment replyâ to this thread.

The only way I know of to reply to a comment is by sending the person a private email message. There are several reasons why this is less than ideal. It should be an option, but an easier, âdpchallengeâ way should be available.

I hope I havenât stuck my foot in it again.

Regards,
Mick

Hey Mick,

I know a lot of people do respond to comments, but they really shouldn't because then you know whose photo it is. I always enjoy hearing from people whom I have given comments to, but if I hear from them before the challenge is over I try to ignore it. Sometimes they explain things and I'm tempted to change the score I gave them. Not fair to everyone else who doesn't get to explain things.

It can become active after the challenge voting ends.

No ... currently to reply to a comment you must click on the commenter's name to go to their profile page, and send a PM or email from there. I'd like to bypass having to go off-track to someone's profile page every single time I want to reply to a comment they've made, and to not have to keep reloading the photo page. The "Reply to Comment" link could pop up a PM composition window, but leave you on the photo page otherwise.

"Open in New Window" not good enough?

Open what, the profile page? I don't want to see that every time I send someone a message. In fact, I've mentioned before that "Profile Page Views" is one of our most misleading statistics, implying a degree of interest in the person's work/portfolio, but perhaps better reflecting how many times someone has wanted to send them a message.

If you know of a way to send a member a PM without going to their Profile page, please tell me, as I've been asking for one for about two years.

Maybe they could make it so the reply is anonymous until after the judging is complete, the same way that the entry photos are anonymous. Maybe it would be too difficult, and you could still let the cat out of the bag by typing the wrong text in the reply.

I've received a few comments and questions about my entry and it feels like I'm being rude by not replying.
