...and am wondering if they will be well received? or am I wasting my time?

I was thinking of a Resource Desk thread. A thread that would compile tutorials, photoshop actions, tips, key board short cuts, and the like.

I also was thinking of a Library Desk thread. This thread would compile books of recommended reading for the photographer, and the post production curious. Also, articles and periodicles both electronic and paper and ink will be included.

And finally, for inspiration sake, I was thinking of a Quote Desk. Inspirational quotes from all aspects of life for encouragement, and experience.

One such quote like this one I found...

"âManufacturedâ or staged photography does not concern me. And if I make a judgment, it can only be on a psychological or sociological level. There are those who take photographs arranged beforehand and those who go out to discover the image and seize it. For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity, the master of the instant which â in visual terms â questions and decides simultaneously. In order to âgive a meaningâ to the world, one has to feel oneself involved in what he frames through the viewfinder.

This attitude requires concentration, a discipline of mind, sensitivity, and a sense of geometry. It is by great economy of means that one arrives at simplicity of expression. One must always take photos with the greatest respect for the subject and for oneself."
-Henri Cartier-Bresson

Your thoughts on my ideas are welcome.

Please chime in and let me know if there is interest, and if anyone else will help in these endeavors.

Thanks.

Great idea, all three. I continually check in on your assignments thread.

I put a lot of threads that have links to tutorials and tips in my watched list as a way to keep track of them and so that I can refer to them when I need them. To be able to go to one thread like what you are describing, and one that is updated as much as your assignments thread is would be very helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to provide these services.

edit for spelling

Resource desk would be too big... we already have tutorial sections, how-to's etc that do a good job... once you start compiling short cuts there are soooo many for each application it could grow to 50 pages before the first day is done.

The book one would be my vote... i've been wondering what books could be read to be inspired or learn from. The net is a great wealth of information but it is not always presented in the best way.

I also thought of an Artist Desk. A thread to point the way to galleries, museums, philanthropy, projects, podcasts, lectures, festivals, events, exhibits, clubs, and web sites all for the artist.

And finally, I am thinking of a Tech Desk.

this thread would host differant sites on equipment field testing, problem solving, new stuff, old stuff, equipment comparisons, fixes, bugs, and work arounds.

Please let me know if any of these ideas are appealing to the masses.

I don't wish to waste my time if these ideas are not going to be welcome, or if no one is going to contribute.

Thanks.

So far not many people are interested in what I want to offer.

Threads to help streamline, and help improve art and life.

I am glad that I asked before I committed.

So, since the lack of interest is obvious, and I am the only one bringing forth nurturing sites, then I guess no more new desks are required.

The current desk sets will remain until I get bored, or my membership is up, which ever first.

Thanks.
