I've got a friend (or two) from another photography site that may join us Saturday. And unless something major comes up, my wife is definitely joining us.

My buddy and his wife are gonna meet us at sunrise.

Are we making a picnic or anything out of this? Do we need to bring anything? Are we just hitting a local restaurant for lunch? Are we skipping lunch because only weak-willed sissies need a break from hardcore photography? :)

I am more worried about the rain right now. I am keeping an eye on the forecast and will probably make a call on the trip by EOD Wed. No use everyone dragging their nice cameras through the rain!

Weather update:
Looks like the rain forcast has lifted now. The Sat weather for Sharpsburg, MD looks cloudy with a high of 69 and low of 45. The ground will very likely be wet from the previous night's rain so I would recommend some waterproof shoes.

Weather.com shows only a 10% chance of rain on Saturday. Accuweather.com shows it raining until about 1PM. We'll go with weather.com's prediction.

Antietam National Battlefield
5831 Dunker Church Road, Sharpsburg, MD 21782

Directions:
Traveling East on Interstate 70:
Exit 29A onto Rt. 65 south. Ten miles south on the left is the Visitor Center.

Traveling West on Interstate 70 from the Baltimore/Washington area:
Exit 29 onto Rt. 65 South towards Sharpsburg. Travel about 10 miles south to the Park Visitor Center entrance which will be on your left side.

Optional Route: Exit 49 onto Alternate Rt. 40 West towards Middletown. Continue through Middletown, over South Mountain to Boonsboro. Turn left onto Rt. 34 to Sharpsburg. When you enter town, turn right (north) onto Rt. 65 and the Park Visitor Center will be on your right a mile north of Sharpsburg.

Traveling North-South on Interstate 81:
Exit 1, Rt. 68, six miles east to Rt. 65. Turn RIGHT at light on Rt. 65. Five miles south on the left is the Visitor Center.

The forecast looks a little rainy this morning but we are still going. It is scattered showers that should go away soon. A little weather is not going to ruin a fun day of photos.

Thanks to all who attended today. The weather cleared really early and actually made for a great day of shooting. I am working on some photos now and will post a link when I am complete. Lunch was great also..it is always nice to chat with other photographers.

We had a good time. After a long rainy drive Friday night, we were glad when it cleared up Saturday morning.
