Hi all,
I got a canon 400d and when looking through viewfinder i notice a few marks. I think i trackedit down to the auto focus plate rather than the mirror. I have tried using a large blower brush but marks still there, anyone have any tips for cleaning as i do not want to damage this plate at all.
Thanks

That plate is also called the focus screen. On some cameras it's possible to unlatch it and remove it. But to be honest it's always fiddly, and there's the risk you'll damage something in the process.
Since these spots won't affect the image quality, my advice would be to just leave it alone. I've got a couple of spots on my D40's focus screen as well, and the focus screen in my film SLR also collected dust. Eventually you just get used to it, and you won't even notice them anymore. |

On some cameras, this focus screen is swappable, depending on your needs and perferences. In the old days, most SLRs had focusing screens that you can replace. I always preferred the "split-circle" screen where the two halfs (top and bottom) lined up when in focus. This was more important in the days before AF.

Thanks all solved the problem. Purchased photography monthly magazine. Came with a free speckgrabber tool. Well worth a purchase.
Thanks again
