Yes ... My bad experience with Nikon UK has made me switch around all over the place. Firstly I sold my D200 and kept the Fujifilm S5 Pro and now in the wake of replacing my P&S walk around camera I actually went over to the 'Dark Side' and got the Canon G9, battery is charging as we speak.

It seems well built and looks good on paper test shots and opinions will follow shortly. I think I may enjoy this little gem.

I really like my G7 and the G9 is supposd to be an improvement over that.

Enjoy.

Wow they're up to G9 now? I have a G2 and it's brilliant!

Well, they did skip the G4 and the G8 designations. Supposedly 4 & 8 are unlucky numbers in some Asian cultures.

I heard 4 was unlucky in Japan but didn't realise 8 was - I guess it's twice as unlucky!

Same with the Fujifilm, they went from S3 Pro to S5 Pro, c'mon battery.
The movie mode on the G9 is supposed to be great, one of the reasons I went with it over the Leica d-lux3

Canon make awesome point and shoots.

You have to give them that.

edit: I hear that 4 is unlucky: G8 on the other hand sounds like the word for a small penis in one of the oriental languages.

They managed to avoid the Nintendo Wii mistake.

congrats on your new camera! Just keep in mind that Canon service is supposed to be the worst of them all....

I think it is kind of like politicians, it is picking the lesser of the evils when it comes to service.

Very nice camera though. Have fun with it.

Fuji Pro service in the US is excellent. One of my S3 Pros fried out inside, smoke came out, and they were just great about fixing it. Everything went right on time, and the estimate was exactly what they charged me. No problems with the camera since Jan, when it was repaired. The shipping back was included in the repair cost.
