Wow, nobody is going to mention Shannon's recent DQ for impropper sharpening? He cheated off the wrong paper. :p
There is no reason for this post. :)

Sorry about that, guys. It doesn't matter how many pairs of pants we buy him, he always wants to wear the ones with the butt cheeks cut out.

Wow. That would really throw me off, since I thought they were both American. :)

You don't shake off conspiracy theorists that easily. GeneralE is a fictitious alter ego created to draw flak from the SC. For shame. |
If GeneralE's stats don't convince you, and my stats don't convince you, then you are hopelessly convinced. And wrong.
This thread makes me feel like I suck really, really badly. Dang, if I have an unfair advantage and still can't break 6 consistently (or even 5.5 for that matter), perhaps I should sell my camera. :/ |

GeneralE is fictitious, he is a clone using data from 2002 til today. In fact, we are similar. Formerlee, GeneralE would have been updated to NormalE and been given scores that AveragelE would have won a ribbon, or at least finished in the top 20.
UnfortunatelE, resouces are limited and now we have legalE been advised that frequentlE oversights happen and basicalE we are buggered!! |

Hey Guys, go easy on the OP. It was said without malice and accusation. Just a thought, as he said. No one is pointing fingers or saying you all are cheats. All jokes aside, SC should know better than to ridicule a poster. C'mon guys, the question was asked and lets find a way to answer it without being condecending. |

Right you are. Steve (the OP), people on this site and by no means least especially those who repeatedly win things, are very generous in sharing their expertise. There's a 'learn' thing at the top of the page here where some individual shots are explained, usually by popular demand (?) as well as a tutorial section that - well, you know.
Still - if having access to pp info on the top ten in all challenges is an advantage then yes, SC members have an advantage. Others don't have it, so the advantage is not equally distributed and can therefore be said to be unfair.
Both the idea of advantage and the idea of fairness assume competition, which is implied in the name of the site (challenge). Nevertheless I don't think anyone is interested in competing by any other means than trying to take the best picture they can themselves and hoping to garner the best votes through the quality of the picture and its appeal to the voters. If I were to 'gain advantage' or 'be unfair' then I would be working, directly or indirectly, on the possibility and potential for others to compete along the same lines. I don't think anyone is interested in that and if they are, I'm not interested in them.
We did get way off your original topic, so sorry about that, but we were just having a laugh, innit? |

How about Global Thermonuclear War? I think that's what this thread is devolving into. Can you believe I read through it all? |
