I hate to hijack this thread, but what is so good about C1? I gave it a try so may times and fail to see the difference between ACR conversion and C1. Actually, I am not even sure how to properly use C1 as there is no manual. |
Agreed, C1 seems very cumbersome and too many `windows` if I remember correctly, or maybe I am being a bit stoopid. Before LR my personal favourite was Rawshooter Pro.. A fantastic bit of software IMO. Adobe bought them out in the end and used some of the technology in Lightroom (vibrance control anyone??). So Lightroom absorbed some of RS's traits, kind of like in the `Alien` series films, where the alien will take on some of the DNA and traits of the unwitting host. great films (the first two were, 3 was above average, 4 was dreadful). Also at the end of Alien Vs Predator you see an Alien that has taken on the Predators traits.. I am starting to feel I have wandered slightly off-topic here.

I guess LR may help you if you have a ton of work that you need to sort through for clients, but for me, I prefer windows raw viewer that lets you see thumbnails of the pictures and then just opening it up and processing in ACR.
I downloaded LR and its just too busy for me. I like it simple. But, like I said, it probably has a lot of nice features that I just realistically wouldnt use right now. |

I really like ACDSee Pro for my organizing and RAW converter. |

Lightroom is by far and away my favourite app for processing images.
I've got CS2 but hardly ever even bother opening it for 90%+ of images.
The selection/ sorting process in lightroom is painless.
I adore the on-image colour adjustments and black and white creation. Combined with a tablet, LR is a joy.
There are some niggles, but it is so much faster and more productive for me than anything else I've tried and I tried a lot of options.

Yes... the advantage definitely comes in when you're dealing with more than one image at a time. It's the "back and forth" processing in ACR that will slow you down. With LR, you just stay IN Lightroom the whole time, you don't go from your viewer to LR and back. Which also makes it very easy to copy settings from one image to the next.
So... let's say I have a series of shots of the bride and groom walking down the isle. The lighting isn't going to change so the overall exposure and white balance are pretty much known. All I need to do is set it for the first one and then copy to the rest of the series. All that's left after that is to adjust cropping and go on and I just quickly flip through each image applying my changes as I go.
