Giottos SP8300 AEGIS Professional Glass Optic Screen Protector
It sounds good, but I'm leery of this "It affixes to a LCD screen with a thin layer of 3M brand double-sided tape..."
Does anyone have any experience with this type of LCD screen saver, or can you make any recommendations?
Thanks. :)

I'd highly recommend Invisible Shield products. I use their stuff for my GPS, and it's really slick.
I learned about Invisible Shield through the Geocaching community, and everyone there raves about them. When the surface gets scratched in any way, it'll actually self-heal after a day or so. It can be removed without leaving any residue, and it has a lifetime warranty.

Great. Thanks! I'll check it out. I've pre-ordered the Sony a700 and want to have the little extra things ready to go when it gets here.
Never used a LCD protector on my 5D and have a couple nicks on it. Nothing major, but still... |

What about glare? The product I listed in the OP has anti-reflective coating on it... |

| I don't know whether there's any anti-glare stuff on Invisible Shield or not to be honest... but glare has never been an issue for me. It basically bonds to the screen and you really don't ever notice it again unless you're looking for it. |

Again - Thanks! :)
The lifetime replacement guarantee is impressive on the 'invisibleSHIELD' brand.
Next question. Would a 3" LCD be standard in dimension for most manufacturers? The new Sony isn't listed yet to order an invisibleSHIELD protector. Canon or Nikon have a 3" LCD don't they? If yes, which model(s)?
Thanks.

Guardfilm.com is cheaper and offers the same warranty I believe.
There is also bestskinsever.com.
You can buy plain sheets from them and then cut to fit whatever you want.

Ok...what about this?! How in the heck can a person be expected to leave their equipment turned off for 24hrs??? No fargin way - I'd never get this 'invisibleSHIELD' installed!
From the FAQ area of the invisibleSHIELD website:
"Q: Do I really need to have my device turned off for a full 24 hours?
A: Yes. We recommend waiting 24 hours after installing the invisibleSHIELD to turn your device back on; this time allows the shield to "set up" properly. Also, since installation solution is applied on the shield during the installation process, this allows the electronic device enough time to dry properly." |

The new Canon 40D and the 1D Mark III both have 3" screens.

In the past, I've used those Pocket PC/PDA screen protectors from Best Buy. These are generic sized, so you have to cut them to fit your screen.
The problem with these is that only after a month or two, they start to get dull and "cloudy". I have to replace them often, which is not expensive (the box comes with a dozen sheets of this film), but just having to cut to size and put it on every couple of months seems like something that shouldn't have to happen.
What other types of stick-on film is everyone using?
As a new Canon 4D owner, I want to protect my nice, large, bright, and crisp 3-inch screen. :-)
