This event is pretty big in the Northeast but I have only attended the tail-end of one day in 2005.
I'd like to know if anyone has shot here before and if they have any tips. Do most people view/photograph the balloons at ground level from the airport? I was hoping to find a nice elevated place to shoot from, maybe away from the crowds.
Tips or thoughts appreciated - thanks.

I went out for last years here and got nothing due to weather :-(. When you drive down from town [Glens Falls anyway] do NOT stop at the area for parking near the airport entrance. Go past that and turn left and there is an area they were letting cars on the left - next to the runway across from the airport.
I didn't see anything of great elevation in the area (apart from the control tower :-) but they looked to be some nice spots around outside the airport.
There was a thread and a couple of locals, so maybe you can hit google for the thread and ping them. Shame I cannot get there this year as it looked like a cool setup with a lot of balloons.
