Oh, that's right. hehe

You will forget everything I said about banks vs. credit unions.

How I got a super low credit limit? Easy. I wrecked my credit several years ago, and Capital One was the only company that would give me a card without making me pay for an outrageous "credit builder" card. I really needed one at the time because I was going to Italy and it was a safety thing - just in case. The credit limit was a whopping $300. But it was something. That was four years ago, my credit is now pretty spiffy, and they've been kind enough to raise my limit. I'm half expecting another increase this year, though I may call and tell them to please put it back when they do.

ahh, sorry you got there the hard way. I'd love to have a lower limit card like that so that we could use it and we'd have a reasonable ceiling to bump up against each month. Of course, there is no way the CC companies will lower my existing credit lines -- they want people like me to overspend and get back into debt and after many years of being like that, it is hard to keep our spending under control in order to not carry a balance.

I am using a Capital One card now because I get double air miles (but I otherwise hate the company and their crappy website). I've had the card since May and I've already earned a free domestic r/t ticket. We pay for everything we can on the card, even other bills, and just pool that other money to pay the card off each month. But like most other CC-exploiting schemes, that can be dangerous if we overspend so it takes some diligence and will-power.

^ I've been told no, so I haven't tried, but I can't say firsthand.

I do this all the time. If your CC company doesn't let you lower the limit, get another CC.
