Ok... so I have been reading websites on Painting with light, and I am so lost. Some of them have the subject with lights placed in different places, others are of lights being moved to create a pattern, and others are like the ones I take - Driving by lights... Which one is correct. I posted in another forum about this and Soup had this to say:

i think people will be looking for objects that have been painted with a light source. ie: a shed in the yard, long exposure, and you paint the shed with some sort of light, or combination of lights.
for instance you could paint only the windows of the shed, or not the windows but the rest of it... just an example.

i am sure you could do whatever you want, but not sure how it will be regarded by others.

So, now I am even more confused! I just spent 3 hours working on something for the challenge... and I don't even know if it's right!?!?
Really, I usually get this stuff, but with so many ways to do it, I would rather do it right!

Thanks as always!

There are several ways to "paint with light" so that might be what's confusing you. The challenge say, "Use a non-stationary light source (for example, a moving flashlight in your hand) as the primary method of illuminating your subject in a creative manner.". I would say that means the PRIMARY light source must be moveable and should be moved to create whatever effect you get. The "in a creative manner" part is where I see the real "challenge" within this challenge.

I would say to quit worrying whether it's "right" and ask yourself whether you LIKE what you produced. If you like it and it was created primarily by moving your light source, then submit it and wait for the voting and comments.

I believe as long as lighting plays a prominent role in the subject of your photo any or all ways would match the challenge.

A lot of books that I've look through would have multiply lights or flashes lighting an object and thus making the scene or object very moody. I've seen the long exposure of a car headlight/brakelight also, but it's pretty boring because everybody's seen it.

Of course if you don't feel confortable with your entry you can pass the challenge and wait for the next one.
