Is using the lens blur filter to create artificial depth of field legal under advanced editing??
I know if you do it with gaussian blur it's fine, but lens blur im not sure.
This is important, my very existence depends on the answer to this question! |

I can not see why that would be any big difference if gaussian blur is legal. |

Can an SC answer this? Preferrably one with the most authoritar? :p
C'mon, there's been so many more altering special effect used- all kinds of crazy textures and filters.

If you realy want a solid answer to this you should sumbit a question to them via the contact us page
ps. its kinda rude to quote someone that helped when you asked it, then suggest they dont have the qualifications to answer it. |

No no that's not what I meant at all! I probably shouldn't have quoted, but i'm so used to clicking that button instead of the post button.
Yes, re-reading it it does sound a little hap-hazard. |

I'm not SC, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn last night.
You can use it, but you can't use it to the point that it changes the photo's description or adds/removes something that was originally in the photo. It may be used to enhance what is already there! To much, and noone really knows what is to much until it's too late, and a DQ could be possible.
The ticket to the SC is the best route. You can even provide them with the example and they will give you an opinion. |

Forget the ticket...
If you have a "stop sign" in the background and you are doing a DOF blur effect, you can use mask and lens blur to blur the background.
However, if you use the blur tool and the stop sign becomes a "light red bokeh circle" then you broke the rules.

No this isn't about the bokeh challenge! Get that awful idea out of your head, that challenge is so cliche even dr. phil cringes at the sight of it.
But thanks, that partly answers my question.
The background is very plain, so using a lens blur depth map doesn't really crate or take away any new features. |

I just used 'bokeh' as an example to show that you can't use the blur tool to completly "take out" a major object.
You should be ok with the DOF/blur technique.
