Photo Editing internship

This internship would afford a great opportunity for those pursuing a career in picture editing. It is a paid internship. A minimum amount of experience in photo editing is required. Did you edit the school newspaper or work for a period at a weekly or daily paper where editing was part of the job? If so this could be the right internship for you.

A large amount of material enters the agency as physical media which is scanned and archived in our database. Once the images are scanned, Aurora's workflow is almost entirely digital. Candidates must have strong computer skills, be able to multi-task in a high-paced environment and love photography.

The daily operations at Aurora involve working with photographs taken by some of the best photojournalists in the world and marketing them to potential buyers. At one end of the process, Aurora's personnel interact with professional photographers to stay abreast of projects and developments while incorporating new material into Aurora's archive. On the client side we work with national and international photo users, both editorial and commercial, to carry out requests and fulfill research projects.

Interested applicants should submit resume, references, and cover letter to Karl Schatz, kschatz@auroraphotos.com.

Portfolios accepted but not required.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

2008/2009 MCP/McKnight Artist Fellowships for Photographers

//www.mcknightphoto.org/application/index.cfm?id=2

Online application for the 2008/2009 MCP/McKnight Artist Fellowships for Photographers is open.

Minnesota Center for Photography (MCP) has hosted the McKnight Artist Fellowships for Photographers Program since 2006. As an organization directly serving the community of photographers in Minnesota and beyond, MCP is ideally situated to provide this service and enhance understanding and appreciation for the creation of contemporary photography.

Support for individual artists has been a cornerstone of the McKnight Foundation̢۪s arts program since it began in 1981. The foundation̢۪s overall interest in enriching community recognizes that artists and their contributions are vital to the state̢۪s health. McKnight Artist Fellowships deliver significant financial assistance to individuals whose work demonstrates accomplishment and the promise of continued excellence. Awards are made in 12 disciplines through 9 arts organizations and presenters.

The MCP/McKnight Artist Fellowships for Photographers support mid-career artists residing in Minnesota who use photography as a primary means of creative, personal expression. The $25,000 fellowships awarded in June 2008 enable four artists to study, reflect, experiment, and explore over a twelve-month period with the support and assistance from MCP and the McKnight Foundation. Panel decisions are based primarily on the presence and promise of excellence in work samples; a plan of activities for the fellowship year will also be reviewed, along with resumè (to determine career status).

Work created during the fellowship year is featured in an exhibition at MCP. Fellows participate in a public presentation about their new work, an exhibit publication, a web portfolio, as well as possibilities to work with MCP̢۪s educational programming. Fellows have additional opportunities to consult with one or more of the review panelists about their accomplishments during the fellowship year.
