Everyone has an event or place nearby that is a favorite place to go and take pictures. This thread is to post your favorite local event or place to take pictures.

Today (01-Sep-2007) is one of my favorites - being a car buff - the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Festival Parade help every labor day weekend in Auburn, Indiana, USA. The parade is primarily Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg automobiles - any condition (some are on trailers, proudly wearing their primer, some are original condition, and some have been restored to like-new gleaming perfection). The cars drive down one of the main streets in town, from near the factory where they built, and park around the Dekalb County courthouse in the town square. If cars don't float your boat - there are about 100,000 people present - all holding basically still to watch the parade - or milling around afterwards. Great opportunities for crowd shots. Some ACD Club members dress in period clothing. The courthouse is a very nice building. The Dekalb County Public Library is along the parade route, and is an interesting building in its own right. It also has a fountain in a small park behind it with lots of butterfly bushes. One section of town is the homes of the executives of the ACD company (including E.L. Cord's home).

If you're in to art deco, the Auburn Cord Duesenburg museum (the former corporate headquarters and auto showroom) is one of the finest examples in the United States.

So, if you're in Auburn today, I'm planning on being there - blue short and a Rainforest Cafe T. Say Hi if you see me.

PS - That is not to mention the Kruse auction, WW II Museum, NATMUS (car/truck museum from more recent years - 50's and later, I think).

I don't generally find events that interesting to photograph. Usually a bunch of people casually dressed staring at things but The Ninth Avenue Food Festival is a little different. It seems to be the best of New York in terms of food, community, energy and...quirkiness. People dance in the streets to music...which is more fun for me to photograph than the Exotic Belly Dancers or The Hungarian Folk Dancers etc. Out of the million street festivals this is the only one in town that means something, these days.

Also, the Mermaid Parade in Brooklyn. That has some very cool opportunities.

...other than that, Central Park.

Street shots in Las Vegas, most are so overwelmed by the scenery to notice you, the rest don't care as they have seen it all.
