what gets you fired up to go out and take pictures, or what do you see when you are out and about that just shouts out to you that you need to capture it.

Where to start... it's probably the same thing that drives me to play my acoustic guitar in the bathroom.

I dont know about other people but I can just suddenly get the urge to go and shoot things and I'll usually have an inkling for what i'm after- urban, rural, landscapes, skies, people, black and white (mostly) or whatever. Also, I like to paint or photograph when i'm restless or despondent- it clears my head, takes my mind off things as the only thing that matters in that moment is capturing what I see, and capturing it right.

My inspiration comes from everywhere I think as the world nowadays is very image-based. How people look, billboards everywhere and photography is almost everywhere now on any high street so all that gives indirect influence on what I may go and shoot- the way someone is standing in a picture, the colours they've gone for and everything else.

I try (wish) to take pictures that explain something or at least have some kind of emotional context attached to them. I realise that this goes for 99% of the photographing popuation, and some are better at it than me. Also, it's a chronicle of my life. It shows me and others where I've been and what i've seen and I can hopefully show others the world how i see it, or how I wish it was (usually black and white with big shadows...hmmmmm.).

I very rarely leave the house with out a camera. And I shoot just about everything that catches my eye because you never know when you are going to get that lucky shot.

I really do not need any inspiration, my love for technology is all I need to get me motivated to go shooting stills or video. I just like to play with my gear and then maybe show off the results.

For me its music and the music scene that I have "grown up" in. Very rough people, very heavy music with violent undertones, very dark imagery, etc. On the flip side though, I listen to a lot of very poppy music. Ive found that it heavily influences my mood and what I am in the mood to shoot as well.

For me it is the magic of having a little black box that makes photos that don't cost me anything to look at! For so many years I had a black box that had to have film in it, then after taking the photos the film had to come out, but carefully so as not to expose it to light, then I had to take the film to a processor, and wait for a few days to get my blurry pictures back, most of which were thrown away as soon as I looked at them.

Then the processors sped things up a bit and I only had to wait a couple of hours to get my blurry pics back. So the whole process became a lot quicker and more expensive.

Now, I go out and take loads of photos, and come home and load them on the PC, then I delete the blurry ones and have one photo I like!!

Seriously, it is the ability to take photos without thinking of cost with a modern piece of electronic wizardry and get some good photos as well. Plus, although I work outdoors, I get the chance to wander around shooting at will, but never killing anything.

My inspiration, is emotion. I like what moves my soul. And so I attempt (ha Haw!) to move my family and friends souls too :)
