I have a Sony DSC-S85, and I know that I have to get an adapter tube to use a lens. I have been looking at getting a great macro lens and a telephoto lens... does anyone have any suggestions as to what is good? I wanted to go with the Sony lenses, but when I tried them out, I noticed the circle around the outside of my picture. Or... should I just work on getting a new camera? UGH! |

You probably can't get better lenses than the ones from Sony. Most third party lenses are designed to be less expensive than the maker's version, and thus are inferior in quality. The "circle around the outside" is called vignetteing. It disappears, or at least is minimized, when you zoom out all the way. Sometimes you can still use the images that have vignetteing by cropping them. Your camera is a good one and your portfolio shows you have an eye for photography, especially for people shots. You don't need to be in a hurry to spend a lot on a newer model. |

I agree with coolhar. I, too, consider the S85 a little jewel. Using a tripod, IMO, is a must with a telephoto/teleconverter/macro lens.
