Lemme guess. It would try to focus and fail? Switch to manual focus and focus to infinity minus a few hairs.

Heres what I got, was a bit difficult with only a 70-200mm.... Really think you need a telescope to get an awesome shot or something over 400mm...

What do you guys think of it

I wasn't going to go out because it's very cold, and I'm supposed to be doing real work. Bah... looks like fun. ;-)

We shoudl create a profile or group or something where everyone can put their eclipse photos so you could look at everyones at once.
is that possible?

Go figure, the week my 100-400 is at canon for a focusing issue this comes around. I had to bust out the old red headed step child(70-200f4) that has been forgotten since the 100-400 lens arrived. Not close but I like that both stars are in the shot. Maybe next time:(

I'll be posting mine soon. I was planning on having the city below the moon but I thought the moon was going to be more south by the time the eclipse started. I should have Googled more to find out where to expect it. (I tried a quick search with no success). I'm still happy (so far with what I got). We'll see what it looks like on my monitor though.

Here's one showing the stars and planets around it, Saturn at left, Regulus above.

Here is one of my shots with my 500mm reflex lens. With the ambient in the city it was hard to even find the moon in the viewfinder, add in that it is about -3 outside. But the kids loved doing something with dad, priceless IMO.

Interesting how I have no trouble getting a crystal clear shot of the moon normally, but tonight just couldn't get it without quite a bit of blur.

Fun shots so far from all of you, though, and it's been fun sharing the experience. :)
