For those of you who aren't familiar with it, PPChallenge is a site I setup for photo post processing challenges in a format quite similar to DPC. It's open to all DPC users.

This week Falc invites us to edit his lovely shot of the HMS Trincomallee! Check out this week's challenge over at PPChallenge, and be sure to check the challenge description and editing rules. Thanks Keith!

The max number of entrants is 32, using DPC Advanced Editing rules with 640px and 150kb limits.

Check out the site to see what it's all about. Browse through complete challenges, submit your own photos for everybody to edit, compete and vote weekly! Sign up now - it's free and exclusively for DPC members.

Cheers,
-Jeff

What a great idea. What I like most is the contrast between original photos and PP photos. Not something we always see on this site.

I love looking at the challenges from time to time, but I'm too intimidated by the talent to join in :-(
All the big kids would just point their fingers at me and giggle.

how do you guys choose the original? I'd like to kick one out for a challenge!

Big kids?? I doubt it. I'm not a big kid. :) It's really fun.

I liked the idea very much. Specially I can not go to places and shoot, so I only have to worry about the learning part. Pressing trigger someone else could do for me.

Domp worry, just think about learning. Be selfish.

Now, Karin - the pool is actually pretty small still. Besides, the more the merrier (and the more we all learn). Brad (PPC gallery) is pretty much the resident expert, and he's one of the nicest, most helpful guys you'll find.

People submit their own originals to the site, and I choose from the submissions to run as a challenge (usually every week, though sometimes I miss a week. =)

We use both Advanced and Expert style rules - see the challenge descriptions for the ruleset.

Sometimes it's fun to work on a picture that "could use some help" - bad exposure or color or whatnot. But I really enjoy it when people submit their best images, and we all get to see how different PP techniques can resonate with (or detract from) a good image.

Cheers,
-Jeff

It is my goal in life to capture a shot of him refusing to help an old lady across the street. Surely this will happen at some point!
