OK, a poor score for my recent run, but I am so happy I entered this photo in the Urban Landscape challenge. It's a great example of how voters opinions differ when presented with something a little bit out of the norm. The contrast in comments regarding the negative space are a prime example of this. A real love it or hate it kind of shot, I think my mid-table placing reflects this. Personally I am glad I entered it, regardless of the score.

Oooh I really like it.
It's quite an achievement to make a city like London look small and meaningless within the wider world/ universe.
I like it.

I love it, and I hate it.

23 comments? - I'd love to get that many... Perhaps love/hate shots are the key :)

You have some intriguing shots of London and its environs in your portfolio, Mark - even a Billy Bragg-esque shot (A127 to Romford - cracked me up) - but this is one of the best I have seen of the London skyline. Period.

Reading through the comments I have to say that while I can see both sides to me there is something so "Yeah" Right"! about the shot from a Londoner's perspective, or ex-Londoner in my case. It captures a real essence of the place.

But, it did cause some interesting polarisation of the views of the commenters. Which was nice.

Thanks for the comments, however I was trying to replicate a shot I took about 18 months ago from the same location, but it never turned out as well as the original.

Have to say I prefer the entry as it says more to be. Awesome clouds in the original shot, though.
