This is kind of embarassing because I work with computers for a living.. mainframes, but still computers... anyway... on my Windows task bar I can no longer see the applications that are currently running. Does that makes sense? I can alt+tab from anywhere and switch between the applications, but I can't see them on the task bar to click on.
How do I get them back? |

thats really bizarre man, i work on pcs for a living also but thats a new one, do a google search for "taskbar not showing programs" i did that myself before replying and found some solutions but they require you to mess with the registry so i wont personally recommend it, but you're prob a power user for sure so check it out |

Every task bar related problem I have ever run into I have fixed with a cool tool called the Taskbar Repair Tool Plus. You can download it here.
Some options aren't available in the free version, but I think it will have the option you need enabled. |

Sounds like your explorer process died (not Internet Explorer, the core of Windows Explorer that constitutes your desktop). When the process dies, it restarts but often loses track of the apps running as well as the tray icons. Did you try restarting the PC? |

Perhaps the task bar is set to auto-hide?
(Start - Settings - Taskbar & Start Menu - see if Auto hide is selected.
If not, then there's a real good chance the mouse cursor grabbed the top of it and dragged it down, hiding it. Take your cursor and go to the bottom of the desktop and see if it changes to an up/down arrow. If it does, click and drag upwards a notch. |

I've also had a number of related taskbar issues fixed by that program. Works great, just reset the taskbar.
I've had info balloons hiding behind, odd organization, undesirable doubling of the spacing.... lots more.
