I just purchased an old SB-25 for dirt cheap. I would like to use it with my SB-800 as the beginnings of a multiple flash setup.
Can the SB-25 be triggered optically like the SB-600 and SB-800? I want it to respond to any flash in the room.
Worse comes to worse I can connect it to my camera with my SC-28 cable and then have my SB-800 as a slave, but obviously I'd prefer to have the SB-800 controlling. |

Yes, with this. I use mine, no problem whatsoever, good range.

You won't have the same interoperability as you would with a iTTL Nikon Speedlite, so you'll have to operate in manual. I don't know if the SB-25 allows for manual power control or not. If it doesn't, it'll fire, but at full power only. It's something to investigate. As far as firing it goes, you'll ned some kind of optical slave like this. |

Thanks for the links, I think I'll have to go for the $0.99 one though...
The SB-25 definitely has full manual control, no worries there. |
