How many times have you watched a movie and the whole movie doesnt make sense until you know what its called? Same with a book, or a song. They are usually works that can stand on their own without a title.

Im not saying that people shouldn't title their work. Im saying that I prefer when someones work stands on its own and the title serves purely as identfication, as opposed to an explanation.

If you have a challenge topic, then that topic is automatically the "title" of any "untitled" work anyway.

We moved the title to below the image (it used to appear above the entry) so that people can have a choice about whether they consider it in their evaluation of the picture.

i agree and i've seen titles that make no sense to the photo. i dont deduct points but i do tell them if the title sucks.

A good matching title on a good image is like the icing on the cake. In other words, I do consider the title when voting. A bad title can take away from the image, imo.
