| When I want to import raw files from my d80, I cant see the files!! It has the id number or whatever, but the file is blank! |

Hmmm, have you updated lightroom? Not sure if Vanilla Lightroom supported the D50 straight out of the box. Try importing a few JPGs and see if that works. If not check out Adobes forums, they are incredibly comprehensive.

| my bad, I have a d80 now...And I did update my lightroom to 1.1, I just cant see raw files when i try to import them from a memory card. |

What are you using to upload the photos? Is it connected before you start lightroom?
I have an external hard drive and if I start it up after I open lightroom, lightroom only displays grey boxes for each image. If I close and reopen lightroom then all is good. |

| I still see gray boxes!!! I am importing them from my sd card. I use the import from disk function... I also tried to reopen lightroom again, still no luck!! |

Using what? Your camera or a card reader? |

| my hp laptop has a sd slot, I just place the sd card in the slot. |

I just had an issue in Lightroom where all the images showed as gray boxes. They would open for editing in PS just fine.
I got them to show up again by optimizing the catalog. |
