When I want to import raw files from my d80, I cant see the files!! It has the id number or whatever, but the file is blank!

Hmmm, have you updated lightroom? Not sure if Vanilla Lightroom supported the D50 straight out of the box. Try importing a few JPGs and see if that works. If not check out Adobes forums, they are incredibly comprehensive.

my bad, I have a d80 now...And I did update my lightroom to 1.1, I just cant see raw files when i try to import them from a memory card.

What are you using to upload the photos? Is it connected before you start lightroom?

I have an external hard drive and if I start it up after I open lightroom, lightroom only displays grey boxes for each image. If I close and reopen lightroom then all is good.

I still see gray boxes!!! I am importing them from my sd card. I use the import from disk function... I also tried to reopen lightroom again, still no luck!!

Using what? Your camera or a card reader?

my hp laptop has a sd slot, I just place the sd card in the slot.

I just had an issue in Lightroom where all the images showed as gray boxes. They would open for editing in PS just fine.

I got them to show up again by optimizing the catalog.
