I finally have my website up and running, www.danthiessen.net, and I would be very grateful if some of you would mind stopping by and giving me a critique. I have a ton more photos to add to the site, as well as information and other things so suffice it say that it is a work in progress.

I like your layout!
I only took a few minutes to poke around, but one thing I can tell you is that your gallery images (as they appear initially -- I'm not referring to the ones that appear when you click for the larger versions) are WAAAAAY unnecessarily large to download.
You apparently didn't resize the smaller images, and used HTML to downsize them. They're way too freakin' huge. Make a second set of gallery images sized down to the appropriate dimensions. That will also actually improve the look of the gallery images, since they won't be jagged. |

I like it. The photo layout is a bit too bright in contrast to the BG and the pix seem to take some time to load. Did you use Flash bc the loading time seems too long for flash.
Nice concept and layout. Good luck with it supporting your fotogoraphy!

Thanks for taking the time to check out the site, and for your suggestions. I am working on shrinking the initial thumbnails for faster load times.

| I wanted to bump this back up. I took alanfreed's advice and I re-vamped all of my photo galleries, making the thumbnails much smaller and faster loading. Any comments? |
