and start taking photographs for yourselves.
seriously.
photography is not about the 'next challenge'
Trash talk my work. Please. Anything is better than the candy coated niceties that go on around here. |

| I take heaps of photos for myself. Some are suitable for challenges. Sometimes I set up and take a photo for a challenge or I see the opportunity to take a photo to suit a challenge. But by far most of my photos are for my pleasure, to look at at another time. |

I quit doing the challenges when I was beat out by a BS picture. Now I just skim for ideas and helpful hints. There are a ton of those here. As for me ...no more challenges. They just aren't fair as far as I'm concerned.
Some of them are but there are others that are just like "What were you thinking!!!" type situations. |

Wow! I just took a look through your portfolio, and you have some REALLY nice photos! :-P
But seriously, you're right. There is some amazing talent here, and I think a lot of people set out to capture a DPChallenge eye candy photo (I know I do when I enter), and might be missing out in the other subtler areas of photography that don't do so well here.

The challenges are a game we like to play.
Why do you think that we don't take photos for ourselves?
You do know you that you can do both?
