Keep in mind that most challenges at DPC are 640 pixels, which often lets you get away with murder as far as noise, sharpness, cropping etc. For larger image sizes and/or prints the difference in quality between a DSLR and a PS will become more apparent...
That said, many of the DPC photographers will beat me any day with a P&S against my DSLR :) |

Good thread. Almost everything has been said. Would emphasize the learning curve. When you work with any tool you are learning on so many levels that it's difficult to be conscious of all of them. Admittedly, my p&s is 'higher level,' if dated, and so there may be more to exploit in that wise. (I yearn but do not yearn for greater clarity. Heraclitus, sort of). (The weeping photographer?).
Loved the grasshoppers and the camera phone (tho 2 mp is pretty high end).
