I have a Nikon D80 with a Nikon AF Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5- 5.6G ED DX lense.

I would like to have a more powerful zoom, what should I be looking for?

I tend to do allot of architectural photography and usually can't get close enough to get the detail I want.

How much would you be willing to spend?

There are some great lenses out there, but without an idea of budget, people will have trouble really helping you.

you probably want something at least 300mm a 70-300 would be a suitable range for you then. That also happens to be a very common range so you have several options both in quality and price.

If you are poor like me I suggest a 70mm-300mm nikon G. I have been very happy with mine. It is not the best, certainly not the fastest. It dosen't have VR but it may be the least exspensive I got mine used for $115. For some crazy reason I really like the colors I get from this lens maybe it is in my head not sure but it is worth checkin into for the price..

I have this lens and am generally quite disappointed with the sharpness and color. I rarely if ever use it.

I think that 50mm f:1.4 is very nice sharp and cheap one >>
