So all of a sudden the "Zoom Resizes Windows" option in Photoshop CS3 no longer works when I zoom with the scroll wheel. (I've also got the "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" checked.) It works fine when I use the zoom tool and click though.
Any ideas what this could be?

What's it doing now?

I've noticed that the scroll wheel will also operate the horizontal and vertical sliders. That hasn't happened to me in a while so can't remember what I did to change back to zooming. It could be related to where the cursor is in the window.

Did you try clicking the scroll wheel to see it that changes anything?

Scroll wheel normally controls vertical scrolling when in the image area or when over the right hand scroll bar. It controls horizontal scrolling when over the bottom scroll bar.

As for the question at hand. CS3 ignores the Zoom Resizes Windows set in the General Preferences (for non-keyboard commands) and you need to select the Resize Windows To Fit option in the zoom tool's Options Menu.

Ok, here comes the dumb question. Where do I find the zoom tool's options menu? All I can see is Resize Windows to Fit and Zoom All Windows when I click on the zoom tool.

Preferences > General there are some, or look at the top horizontal toolbar under the menu bar.

No, there's no option like the one technoshroom mentions in those menus.

The same thing happened to me two weeks ago. Right after I tried swapping my mouse to a trackball (the damn thing is faulty and will be replaced in 3 weeks) so I had to go back to my old mouse with the scroll wheel...and even though the 'Zoom with scroll wheel' on my preferences is checked...it no longer works. Go figure.

Ah, I found the option. So now I've got 'Resize Windows to Fit', 'Zoom Resizes Windows' and 'Zoom with Scroll Wheel' checked. Still doesn't work. Meh.

Yep. Definitely a conspiracy. One to make all the PC users feel like Mac users.
