I finally made it over to the Mississippi river with my 10-D and the Bigma (50-500).
I was about 30 feet away from this guy.
A 100% crop of the previous image
Nothing too spectacular, but I plan on getting back over there soon. Maybe when the temperature warms back up into the 20's or 30's (farenheit). :D |

Hey, great shots Gregg. Where on the Mississippi did you go? I have been wanting to get over there this Winter, but things haven't worked out; I was just in MPLS, but drove both over and back in the dark.
Edit:
Oh, I see you were in/near Wabasha; darn, that's only 4 hours from my house!

Wow great shots, I love the second one and the last one the best. I have the worst luck with bird shots, everytime I see one by the time I get my camera raised and look through my viewfinder they are gone, it's very frustrating lol. Anyway, great shots!

It works well for what it is...a 10x zoom and the cheapest 500mm lens you can buy. That being said, since I spend most of my time at 500mm on the Bigma, I plan on getting a Canon 400 5.6L / 1.4x TC pretty soon. Sure the prime isn't as flexible, but the image quality is noticably better imho. |
