I think it would be very cool to have a profile-guest-book.

Just to be able to type some nice words for a fellow-photographer, ask a question or just for .. well .. all kinds of things!

I requested something similar a while back to allow users to comment on entire collections rather than just individual images.

Adding this I think would be a great idea.

I've been wanting that as well.

The profile guestbook would be ok if it is a separate page from the actual profile page.

...and if it was a Flash-animated image of like a leatherbound journal with a red wax seal that you click to open and all the comments were in French script.

well, then it also would be nice if we could write a description in our collection too.

now I did it this way: portfolio and description , but that just looks so stupid!!!

Yeah!! Great idea if the creator could comment. Not others.
I think that would be too many comments everywhere...

I also like the idea of being commented on a profile page. You do it on deviantart.com. It works great...

It doesn't look that bad. I mean sure, the background is blown out and the text is a bit mundane, but maybe add some noise and do some hdr wizardry on it and I think it could really pop!

I like the guestbook idea but would want the user to be able to keep guestbook entries private, or share them, as an option. It could be like blog software, where a captcha was required to post, so we avoid SPAM-bots. I would be opposed to anonymous entries.
